“Latin America”

Overnight, Phil Hendie snagged an interesting caller.  His premise was something along the lines that we should stop calling things using foreign names, like tacos and tortillas and teriyaki sauce.

The caller identified herself as being born in America, and her father was from South America and her mother was from Cuba and she proudly calls herself a Latin American.   The “Guest” pushed her over and over again (“You’re just an American”) to provoke her to reassert that “Yes, I am a Latin American and I even eat hamburgers!”

I have never understood why people use the adjective “Latin” when none of them speak or write Latin or even have Roman ancestry. :-)

Well, this German-Scot-Irish-Brit-Cherokee, married to a Japanese eats sashimiburgers!
