What an F15 looks like in action

For too much time in my youth, I had an F15 flight / combat simulator on my PC.   The F15 is pre-stealthy, so flying very low and close to the ground is the best way to avoid radar detection   Flying in between hills also is helpful.    At low altitude, SAMs and AAA won’t work – they don’t activate until they’re well off the ground to avoid blowing up the shooter.    So you fly them very low or very high.

If you’re wondering what is coming off the wingtips – the lift on a high performance jet creates a vortex of very low pressure as it flies – especially in a tight turn.    That causes an area of very cold air, which causes the water in the air to immediately condense out of the air.

Load some HARM’s on the rails. That will keep their heads down!

Seeing these jets in action is really quite exciting. I used to fly F-100’s for the TX ANG back in the dark ages and the sounds of an afterburner mixed with the aroma of jet fuel makes my systolic go into warp drive.

Awesome ! I wouldn’t want to be a ‘muzzie’ with one of those bad boys coming after me!
They are very quiet until they are right up on you.
They like to do runs on the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, and come up out of the New River Valley. I swear sometimes it looks like they will not clear the trees!
Navy Hornets come through here too.
Either that or they like looking at the girls on the ‘Quad’ sunning at Radford University. Its all Good !
    U.S.A !
