Syrian security forces have continued killing protestors.
The flaw to this news is it undermines the carefully crafted narrative that John Batchelor’s guests have been promoting for several months – that Syria is a de facto client state of Iran intending to act as a proxy some day for invading Israel. If Iran is running the government of Syria, and Iran is also behind the protestors, that seems to create a contradiction.
Syria – Cease Fire!
Historically, Syria puts its finger in the air, figures out which way the wind is blowing and sides with the prevailing forces. They are Islamists, but they will ride the coattails of the leader or movement that looks like its winning.
Always remember that cowardice trumps all other motivations in that region of the planet. Why do you think the Saudi’s let the American “infidels” retake Kuwait for them back in 1991?
For those keeping track, Syria does have oil – although they’re old fields and depleting – use within the country is down below production, so they’re a net importer of oil now. Syria’s oil partner is an oil company from Canada.
