Lutz to get new GM role – GM has a 9 AM company wide conference. Bob Lutz being named Ceo is the obvious implication.
As a former Navy pilot, he understands taking orders from the commander in chief.
Lutz has two big things working against him. While he knows hlow to design and market cars, he’s thin on operational management – running the plants, planning production, etc. The bigger issue is he is 77 years old, having come out of retirement a decade ago. He hasn’t got a lot of time to turn things around.
My speculation was wrong. Lutz was summoned to Detroit to tell him his new job is to be the old man sitting in the corner telling the young whipper snappers that they are doing something wrong.
The new GM seeks to be a more diverse company, not led by inbred management (translation: white men).
