D’oh – did you mean something you heard on the air? I didn’t spot anything in the database.
It is annoying when people are reading something and making it sound like their own brilliance – until they get to a big word they don’t know and stumble on it – Hannity is the biggest offender on this, but not the only one.
Slough can be pronounced with the gh as sloff – but that is what a snake does when it sheds it’s skin. [can you tell I typed that on the iPhone? Grrr]
Apparently in New England, the water meaning is pronounced like “slaw” rather than “sloo” – since that’s the way it is said in England
