Scott Shannon gets new job – you most likely know him as the pre-recorded voice track introducing songs on the True Oldies syndicated format. He also works at WPLJ in New York City.
Just ahead of Citadel’s expected bankruptcy filing, Shannon has been named VP of programming for all of Citadel. Outside of the former ABC radio stations, Citadel’s stations are mostly in small and unrated markets. Radio in small town America is a different creature than in New York – I hope Mr. Shannon is smart enough to realize that.
Tom Taylor’s blurb on this says Mr. Shannon will focus on the major market stations. It would be fun to see what he could do with a full service AM/FM combo running Country and Gospel in rural Tennessee.
