OMG, the shooter in Vegas was a black man!
Many media reports characterized his motive as being upset his social security payment was reduced. Any media outlet that reported it that way was mischaracterizing his motive – he was upset that a judge threw out his racial discrimination lawsuit against a person working for Social Security.
According to court documents, Wicks had filed a lawsuit against the Social Security Administration in April of 2008 alleging racial discrimination. In a handwritten complaint, Wicks said the discrimination had followed him from California to Nevada. Wicks wrote this about one California agent, “Doesn’t try to hide the way he feels about black people so he reduced my benefits.”
Who could have seen that coming? How can we possibly satisfy Eric Holder’s desire to have an honest discussion about race in America when the media keeps hiding it from us?
It’s now official…the world has gone mad!

Oh, that's interesting – his lawsuit has a "Prison Number"… He filed it while in prison, apparently.
Mr Wicks was 66 years old, but only receiving $128 a month. He was receiving SSI. SSI is a program for people on disability or retirement age who reported so little income during their entire life that they don't have enough social security credits from paying taxes to qualify for at least $660 month in Social Security Retirement. His SSI payment was lowered because he was ordered to repay money from an overpayment. Nevada pays less for SSI, and he had lived in Nevada without reporting his change of address.
If we want to have an "Honest Discussion" about race in America, let's talk about non-compliance rates of black Americans not paying income taxes to the IRS and why the IRS doesn't launch a targeted enforcement program to address the problem.
BTW, Mr Wicks was convicted of murdering his brother and sexual assaults. He also set his apartment at the Sunrise Senior Village (a HUD Subsidized apartment complex) on fire before going to the courthouse.

If I did my math right, he was born in 1943. Perhaps it was the deprivation of World War II. His social services case worker is mentioned several times in his lawsuit as accompanying him to the Social Security office. The most specific thing in the complaint to back up the claim of racism is one person suggested he return to California.
The only overt racism I see on the form is the form itself – it’s a form to report racism with a preprinted line to enter your prison number. Are they suggesting so many racism complaints are from prisoners that they just assume you are?

I’m not sure, but I think the issue is over the Congress taking so long to give everyone free health care.
