WordPress is updated to a newer version …

WordPress is updated to a newer version – maybe a few of the quirky things will go away – be sure to click “Show threads” so it doesn’t look like a monolog :) Are y’all seeing a box at the top that says “whatcha thinking about?”…. if you are logged into the SRGuide web site, when you click Reply it should automatically log you in…. you’ll be able to reply to existing threads, but you won’t be able to create a thread until your account is promoted to be an “author”

As “nice” as this is, a piece of blog software shouldn’t need me having to go in and reverse engineer undocumented uncommented php and javascript code just to fix very basic issues….

More likely the theme needs to be updated by the theme author (automattic.)

As an alternative, go to Appearance – Add New Themes and search for Prologue (my assumption is Prologue is the predecessor to P2, even though the footer calls itself P2.) Prologue appears to work correctly.

Yes, P2 is somewhat experimental – it’s intended to be an interface that is twitter like where you don’t have a tedious posting process, and it’s threaded all in one place. Its big advantage is that anyone can start a thread, not just the authors (I think). So far, nobody has started a topic, so I don’t know if I just assumed that to be the possible..

Odd, I registered to see if that would make “whatcha thinking about?” available to me. Afterwards, it took me straight to my admin dashboard page and showed me as being logged in – *without* yet having entered a password (which was later sent to my email.)

And I still don’t have a “whatcha thinking about?” input. Does P2 have an options page that limits that permission to a chosen user level? (I’m testing Prologue on a test blog and it doesn’t)

    • Art Stone says:

There was no need to register as long as your have a SRGuide userid. I created a plugin to incorporate the SRGuide authentication as a result of your message that forcing registration was inhibiting people saying things.

Well, this is clunky. I wasn’t requiring you to login to post comments, which meant it wasn’t entering the authentication. Now it does require you to login, but when you click Login, it automagically logs you in :)

Yep, I wasn’t required to login earlier today. Nice move on the dual authentication – you have too much time on your hands :)

…and I’ve got the “Whatcha thinking about” now
