Quality of Radio Station Web Sites – one of the newsletters today mentioned a complaint that by 11 AM on Monday, some station web sites still had content promoting the Grammy awards that had happened the previous day (he didn’t mention if it was 11 AM in his time zone or theirs)… I need to point him to web sites that still list Art Bell if he thinks that’s bad :)
How important is a station web site to you? What do you expect to be on it? (Try to disregard the things that are important if you do testing here)…. would there be any value to adding a quality rating to each station’s web site? If so, what are some of the criteria? If you’re “in the biz”, keep your hands in your pockets…. by working in radio, your perception of what is important will be very different than the people who are your customers….
I don’t think I’ve looked at more than a half dozen websites in the last year (exception would be if there is a schedule problem while testing)…websites are not important to me at all. Occasionally a host will refer to a poll on their site that I’m interested in (Rick Roberts, Howie Carr), but that is the only time I would visit.
An automatic B or better to any site not loaded down with Flash crap. Otherwise, just give me clear navigation that’s easily distinguishable from all the bikini boobage and other junk that they like to cram onto the front page.
