I’m considering ditching P2, this “twitter like” wordpress theme. The current version was not tested on Internet Explorer (apparently)… the problem was reported 4 weeks ago and just today the “admin” responded by asking what versions…. The problem is that when you submit a reply, it prompts you that you are about to lose your changes, which is not true….
The more annoying problem for me is that if you cause the window to lose focus, by switching to another window, and then switching back, anything you typed in the window is gone. That’s bit me at least half a dozen times…. also, if you attempt to paste a URL into the window on the iPHone, it throws Safari into a state where the only way to fix it is to power down the iPhone….
The code has virtually no comments and no documentation. If the author of this applied to work for me (back when I worked for a company), he wouldn’t get an interview. “Good” programming is about creating something that other people can understand and maintain, not proving how smart and clever you are….
(The problem seems to be that he sets up a callback function to handle window events, and it has logic to handle IE different than other browsers, and something about that is not working correctly…. – but I didn’t pick up a theme to spend my time debugging javascript and AJAX code)
I could be wrong, but I think if you revert back to a “normal” theme, you’ll then have repeated text (new posts not included) since the first few words will be used again as the title (then again, I guess it’s just an aesthetics thing for me.) A few different routes to take for a solution, but that all depends on how you see the future of the blog. Switch over to the default theme for a minute to see what it looks like.
I did that in the middle of the night when nobody was around… The aesthetics of the in line threading left a lot to be desired
yeah this site gives me some trouble – i frequently get that “do you wish to logout” from out of nowhere or “please log in to post” when im already logged in….also, i accidentally hit the backspace key on my computer and lost my 7 sentence post, although i guess that might not be specific to this site, not sure…
also had a few probs on a disqus site recently though, so this site isn’t the only one….
