WRKO is dropping Coast to Coast – to put on Howie Carr reruns!….. I’m thinking this is just temporary – perhaps they are going to pick up Doug McIntyre?

Or something… you can bet it probably wasn’t WRKO’s choice and that Clear Channel used its “priority” to place the show on WKOX, its own owned-and-operated station. Since Hendrie is on WTKK, that leaves McIntyre, Joey Reynolds or John & Jeff. That is, if they go syndicated overnight.
WRKO had the web site already updated with a snazzy thing promoting Howie overnight, so they must have had some time before they made the switch. I wonder if PPM data had something to do with this…. Midnight to 6 AM doesn’t factor in Arbitron’s top level ratings, right? WRKO is Entercom’s station…. I don’t have any impression about what Entercom puts on overnight….
Yeah, Entercom doesn’t really have much of a standard lineup like Clear Channel or Cox does…KMBZ is Entercom, and they’re the ones that are rerunning Rush Limbaugh in the overnight. Most of the other Entercom talkers I know of (e.g. WBEN, WILK) carry C2C. So, this could very well be a permanent thing.
On the other hand, McIntyre’s Web site says he’s going to be adding more affiliates next weeks, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Citadel makes a push for it. That being said, most of Citadel’s shows are on WTKK, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Citadel didn’t make a push.
As for the timing thing, I Wikipedia’ed WKOX and apparently they’d been carrying C2C since January.
As far as I know, no, Arbitron doesn’t do much with overnight ratings.
NorthEast Radio Watch confirms that WRKO’s plan is to put on McIntyre
never heard of Doug McIntyre….
He’s been the overnight guy at KABC in Los Angeles, and then was doing morning drive for a while until they suddenly yanked him away to New York to make room for some folks they hired from the now defunct CBS “Free FM” station…. Citadel (ABC) just started him in syndication this week with very little advance publicity… (a little birdie told me months ago that was the ultimate plan)
As of tonight (for sure), WRKO is carrying Doug McIntyre. Am I good or what?
