Just loaded FireFox 3.6
Best description of this program is “Bizarre”.
First thing I notice is that there is no navigation bar…search bar, but no navigation bar.
Has anyone tried this monstrosity?

I see the IETab plugin isn’t compatible with it yet… I guess I won’t be using Firefox to test Clear Channel stations [looks like CC’s new player works with FIrefox – never mind]
It looks pretty normal to me….. unlike other claims, this time it does seem to be very much faster than older versions…… either that or my neighbor has stopped trying to backup his 200 GB hard drive over wireless
Try Coral IE Tab
I FOUND IT! The navigation bar did not load on install, but when I clicked on the tool bar “set to default” it was installed. With no IE plugin, I don’t know how useful this browser will be.
I uninstalled FF 3.5 because it would not release on shut down. Every time I called it up it told me it was already running…very annoying. This one does release.
Another annoyance…there is no user setting to release the cache and bookmarks on shutdown.
i had that “already running” notice a couple of times lately, just killed it in the Task Manager…not sure what causes the trouble, usually its an add-on….have been using FF for a few years now, almost never need to use IE8 except to go to microsoft update site…
Is there anywhere you can post a screenshot of that? The search bar is a part of the nav toolbar. Click “view”, then “toolbars” to see what’s available. Also, right-click on any toolbar and then “customize” to add (or rearrange what’s aready there.)
I’m having problems using it for WIOD…. the player tells me that I don’t have Flash installed, but I just went through downloading installing and rebooting just to be sure…
Next issue with Firefox
I just did a memory check of three browsers with KTLK streaming loaded: Opera, Chrome and FireFox.
FireFox memory usage: 162, 756 (Firefox did not release at shutdown)
Opera memory usage: 72,500
Chrome memory usage: 36,884
While the results may differ with individual machines, the results are interesting.
The performance changes I see are how fast it opens a new window. I suspect it precreates windows so it has done some of the work before you click on a link – like doing DNS lookups before you click on the link…
yeah, thats a problem with Firefox and sometimes there’s also a memory leak that takes it up to about 1.5 GB of my 2.0 gb eventually before i have to restart it…i havent seen this in 3.6 though…now it seems to stay at about 150 mb so either they have it fixed for now or it might have been an add-on that was the problem…
