Zombie factories – let’s say you run a hospital. It’s now 2014 and there is no pre-existing condition test allowed, and no annual or lifetime benefit cap.
A patient arrives in your ER – they have no insurance, no assets and no chance of recovery – most of their brain is gone or dead.
You arrange to enroll them in the state insurance pool and the hospital will pay the premiums to keep the patient insured. $500 a month to run up millions of dollars of charges keeping someone on a respirator for years is a no brainer decision.
Well, that’s where those Death Panels step in, right?
I was discussing this with a relative who politically has nothing in common with me – but he clearly sees the only purpose of this bill is to destroy the private insurance industry. I thought about saying “so you agree with Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck!”. Our difference is he sees that as a good thing so we can get to a govt run system.
One problem with this is without private pay, the government won’t be able to cost shift Medicaid & Medicare.
The pay for being a doctor in Cuba is $24/month. How long will it take to pay medical school loans off at that rate? Why we’ll have to solve that by putting the govt in charge of college loans and then “forgiving” the loans if the doctor works in the type of medicine and where the government tells them to go. None dare call that Involuntary Servitude…
