I need a Glenn Beck TV Reporter :)
I just read that on Thursday, Glenn had guests from the Cato Institute (libertarian think tank) and Glenn is coming around to the Ron Paul view on foreign policy and military intervention outside our borders.
I’m thinking this must be related to his “how can we shrink the US Govt by 50% and survive?” series. Spending $1 million per year per soldier to chase ghosts in Afghanistan is an obvious thing to scrutinize.
Was that kind of the point?
Glenn has spent time in the past talking about how Ron Paul is a bit too “fringe” for his taste. It’s a new era and a new world disorder, and Paul is sounding better to me than Mitt and Palin. Of course, the Republican mainstream will never embrace him, but I think that’s a major selling point for the Congressman.
Also, the John Birch Society is being vindicated after all these years. Most, if not all, that I hear and read from JBS rings very true today. And, as the Republican Party criticizes them also, see my comments above.
I didn’t leave the Republican Party. The Republican Party left me. And they’re still leaving. Reagan was the only conservative republican we’ve seen in the oval office over the last 50 years, and even he made some…interesting decisions during his tenure.
Ron Paul’s son is running for Senate in Kentucky and is ahead of the hand picked Republicsn Party establishment by double digits. People are realizing to have power they need to support individual races and not write a blank check to Michael Steele to support the establishment big government RINOs whose only interest seems to be to make sure their supporters get their fair of free government handout money
What bugs me is how the Limbaugh/Levin/Hannity Axis constantly speaks against third parties, noting their dismal showings in elections over the last century. This is not the last century, and we are encountering threats of many stripes from many places. When the American people show up to protest both parties, and when I hear people like Mitt Romney towing the party line (and he’s the Republican heir apparent in 2012), we can only look to a third party to bring about an end to politics as usual. The sooner, the better.
Well, Glenn backed himself in a corner with Van Jones – Jones had signed a petition wanting another investigation into the events of 9/11, hence that made him a 9/11 truther. I haven’t heard that he has given speeches saying he thinks the WTC was wired with explosives and destroyed on purpose by the CIA, etc….
Having taken a position so extreme, Glenn can’t possibly warm up to Ron Paul – who is comfortable discussing 9/11 theories with Alex Jones. Something like 60% of people think it would be useful to have another review of 9/11 – I would like a panel without Clinton administration people on it whitewashing their own responsibility for limiting the CIA and FBI from sharing information about terror suspects. I don’t think that’s a “fringe” position
I’d like the review to include Sandy Berger’s attempted theft of documents. Do I think the government blew up those towers? No. But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like to see a review of the events, along with the facts surrounding our entry into both Afghanistan and Iraq.
Is all of this because the Muslims hate democracy? If so, is that the reason we’re transitioning OUT of democracy in, as Jerry Doyle refers to it, creeping incrementalism? Yes, I’m on a tangent, but it all feeds into the big picture. Goldman Sachs and the government (like there’s delineation between the two), wars that both parties are supporting that are financially bringing us closer to ruin. A proxy war in Pakistan? Are you kidding me? That won’t lead to Mushrooms over Manhattan anytime soon.
I know none of this is new to you, Art. But in the last few years, I’ve really started to wake up. Yes, it’s always easier to stay asleep. Red state, blue state. Red pill, blue pill.
Back when I was working for that place where stocks were traded (the “N” one), a vaguely remember someone mentioning that some broker dealer was the “de facto” hand of the Federal Government/Reserve. It probably was Goldman.
After 9/11 and the stock market resumed trading, it was uncanny. Each day for about the first week, the market dropped 5% exactly, and then basically flat-lined the rest of the day – if it drifted downward, it would immediately settle back on -5%. Since the S&P index has 500 stocks, that degree of non-movement of the index is a clear sign of collusion – probably via intervention using stock options
if Ron Paul gets an audit of the Federal Reserve, I would not be surprise to learn if the Fed (or the US Treasury) is directly manipulating the stock markets. That cam explain why stocks are going up when there is little rational basis for it.
