Mojave Cross can stay – so says the Supreme Court… if this wasn’t on your radar, here is the story… there is a “cross” on public land – it was a memorial to the war dead of WW1 erected in 1934 by the VFW in the middle of nowhere in the Mojave Desert. To be “offended” by it, you have to drive down a two lane road for an hour. The government had transferred the land the cross was on to private ownership to try to fend off the Anti-Christian Lawyers Union (ACLU) which had sought to have the cross torn down.
The bad news is that this was another 5-4 decision based not on the law, but on desired outcomes.
The law…..oh, do you mean jude law the actor…..Oh CONSTITUTIONAL Law, what in the world is that?
Sounds like it’s not over yet…they’ve handed the case back to the lower courts.
BTW…love your new name for the ACLU!
I have a good name for the ACLU: ‘American Communist Lawyers Union’. This is the name they saw on my other junk mail after mistakenly asking me for a donation, along with Xerox copy of two cents. Plus, they had to pay the postage…
