Net Neutrality – even if you’re a “tenther” (someone who wants the Federal Government limited to only the enumerated powers as described in the 9th and 10 amendments), you’re going to lose this fight if you’re doing it based on Constitutional principles. There isn’t a clearer example of something involving “interstate commerce” – and running the postal service IS one of the enumerated powers. (the Postal Service was the only long distance communications method within the United States back in the 1700s – and it isn’t a stretch to suggest that the Internet has become the defacto replacement)
The internet was designed and built using Federal money and with active participation from the military and intelligence communities. Email is sent in clear text for a reason.. There is a central clearing house process for encryption keys for a reason. Nothing done on the Internet is hidden from government monitoring.
For those who thought they were “fighting the system” by creating exploits of MSIE and making P2P software to steal music, all you were doing was laying the foundation for what happens next. The anarchist is the most powerful weapon in the arsenal of the totalitarian.
