John Batchelor’s factual error – near t…

John Batchelor’s factual error – near the end of the final hour, John said something that seemed wrong – that BP had pulled the permit from MMS on April 15th, and after 5 days of drilling, the rig exploded.

That didn’t make sense since the bore hole is 10,000 feet deep – the dig as fast as we can relief wells will take at least 3 months.

It turns out the permit was granted April 2009 – a year earlier. It doesn’t change the material facts (that Obama’s people waived an environmental study on the basis that a spill was virtually impossible), but it clears up an annoying loose end

Last night he mentioned twice that the permit was pulled in 2009, but still insists the Deepwater Horizon was only there for 5 days drillilng. I’m sure drilling technology has improved in 100 years, but I really doubt that a rig can drill 2000 feet a day under 5000 feet of water….

If he is correct, that means this hole must have been drilled at some point in the past, and this rig was brought in only to “finish” the well. Nobody has mentioned that, and it doesn’t make sense. I hope we get some clarity…..
