Is Steve Forbes the force behind the Tea Party movement? I know Ron Paul and his supporters believe they are in charge. While I like some of the things Ron Paul believes in, were he ever to become a serious candidate, the media would tear him to shreds (just look at Rand Paul the past few days). This country does not want libertarians in charge, no matter what they say – and all the forces that benefit from the protection or revenue from the government certainly aren’t going to just stand aside.
Freedomworks has been showing up on my radar as the force actually doing a lot of the organizing… in the past few days, Steve Forbes has been doing commercials for FreedomWorks on Glenn Beck;s show. Freedomwoks is run by Dick Armey. Armey you will remember as the House Majority leader when Newt Gingrich led the Republcan victory in 1994 taking back control of the House. He left Congress in 2003 and took up employment with a lobbying firm. There is little about his life story (or anyone else on Freedomworks board) that suggests he actually wants to drastically reduce the size and power of the Federal government – just that they want to control it.
