Today’s Skype update (phone calls over the Internet) now allows the iPhone to connect over 3G (not just WiFi). This seems likely to be related to AT&T’s network problems.
Last week, Leo Laporte had a painful call from a Skype user – caller probably had 5 seconds of latency. After a bit of dead air, Leo had to end up dumping the call.
While on VOIP…I’m a very satisfied Magic Jack user…have had it for about 2 years now and use it as a second line / outbound long distance calls…I’ve saved a ton of money by eliminating almost all my long distance charges (I have a lot of them) and call quality is outstanding. Unlike Skype, no monthly charges…one time per year $20. I do not think I would like it as my only line, though…some limitations.
Prior to buying this, I had never purchased an infomercial product. Haven’t again since…but might.
