Alvin Greene – the ticking bomb inside the Democratic party if anyone pays attention. Mr Greene is an African American who won the South Carolina Senate primary on Tuesday. Other than the filing fee, he spent less than $2000 and wound up with a solid majority of the vote. The “Progressives” (I’m listening to Alan Colmes) are suspicious how this happened – it must be a Republican plot! after all he can barely put a thought together (Colmes quote)

If it is a plant, well, now they know how we feel about their involvement in McCain winning the South Carolina primaries in 2008.
I guess the Democrats are reluctant to admit that their “Progressive” followers would vote for Howdy Doody. Perhaps Mr. Greene really does represent the people who voted for him – he’s a felon convicted for distributing pornographic material, is unemployed, living on the dole, and is really is marginally intelligent (I heard a clip of his softball interview with Keith Olbermann, who tried every which way to make him look better than he really is and failed miserably.)
No he isn’t. He has been charged but has not been convicted of anything. He served in the US military – he was given an honorable discharge. We still have that pesky “innocent until proven guilty” thingy… Although you can be sure the party leaders will try to use that. South Carolina has a very large African American population to whom any attempt to push Mr Greene aside will feel like racism. If that starts to happen, Michael Steele should start yelling for a DOJ investigation and invocation of the Voting Rights Act. It’s time to awaken the South’s memory of which political party was lynching, using fire hoses and standing in the school house door preventing blacks from getting an education.
Adding in more details… The incident happened at the library of the University of South Carolina. He used the computer next to an 18 year old white student. She was offended by porn he was viewing (to a person in SC, porn might be as little as a woman in a bathing suit)… But when he suggested they go to her room, she called campus police. She referred to the 30 year old black veteran as a “big boy”. Welcome to racism 101 South Carolina style.
It won’t be decried as racism when Jim Clyburn is leading the charge. As far as his disastrous interviews go, wasn’t it Maxine Waters who had a case of oral diarrhea and said something along the lines of “this democrat would be about socialism?” We need to take a long look not at who we vote for, but who votes. By and large, ignorant people are captains of the ship of state. And even if he enjoys getting women primed for sex by showing them porn, I say welcome to the post-Clinton USA. Go, Alvin, go.
Wouldn’t it be something if looking into this primary election discovered massive voter fraud organzed by… perhaps SEIU? It’s pretty hard to explain how a guy that nobody knew was able to get 100,000 votes. I’ve even read the suggestion of fraud in the voting machines….. Maybe they weren’t reset from the 2008 election.
Really? A Republican plot?
I didn’t think ANY Democrat would give the Republicans THAT much credit.
After all, wasn’t W the dumbest President ever?
I tend to suspect those pesky tea party people not the Republicans. The Democratic party has so many obvious ways to fracture their coalitions… A few to consider:
– sanctions against countries that allow bull fighting… Animal rights collide with Mexicans
– gay African Americans – the black culture is strongly anti-gay (unless the gay man is a white liberal)
– Unions vs blacks – unions enforce hiring practices meant to exclude racial minorities (preferences to relatives of existing members for instance)
– union truck drivers vs NAFTA foreign drivers
Neither Greene nor Vic Rawl did any notable campaigning as far as I can tell, yet Rawl as the establishment candidate (who no one had heard of) expected to automatically win.
SC Dems are overwhelmingly black, and with the ability of anyone to vote in the GOP gubernatorial primary, it’s likely that almost all of the Dem primary turnout was black – just compare that turnout to the demographics on a map. And knowing nothing about either candidate, they probably guessed that Greene was black from his name, or who knows, maybe they just liked his name more.
But the SC Dem establishment is trying to cover this embarrassment with these conspiracy charges – remember that this is the second straight senatorial election where they couldn’t even get their own ‘real’ candidate their own nomination (Ron Paul disciple Bob Conley won in 2008). Maybe the SC Dems will be ready to close the primaries now…
