Freedom of “Worship”

Glenn Beck’s second hour today focused on President Obama redefining “Freedom of Religion” as “Freedom of Worship”, which curiously was the term used in the Soviet Union’s Constitution.

The difference was that in the Soviet Union, you were allowed to attend a church, but it was illegal to talk to people to try to get them interested in your religion. You can talk to God (or whatever name you choose) in the house of Worship, but not out in the street or in a school.

Freedom of religion, at least to me, also implies an open-ended right to all religions, where Freedom of Worship could easily be “from a list of approved religions” – like Henry Ford’s “You can have a Model T in any color, as long as it is black”.
