“Quality” rating – to nudge people toward following the guidelines governing quality rating, I’ve added a new edit that limits the ability of an editor to “force” the quality above 5 if the station uses prestream advertising. If you are setting quality on stations, please take a moment and reread the Quality definition and the Section on Prestream Ads in the Editing Guidelines.
If you don’t agree with that definition, please stop modifying quality ratings. Most of the existing ratings were set by me which means they are close to what the guidelines say. I don’t want this to devolve into a contest of wills. A quality rating is a pattern of observations, not the opinion of one person on one day listening for 30 seconds (unless there is no rating yet). The “quality” of a stream has nothing to do with whether you enjoy the style of music
Thanks for the reminder. I just reread the description of Prestream Ads and think maybe I got some of the PBS stations wrong…they were just identifications NOT prestream. I’ll go back and take a look at some of them.
Well, it’s not huge deal on the PBS stations…. I look at duration of the message, can I hit “next” and skip through the message, and is it really mostly an advertisemetn for a third party disguised as a sponsorship message.
I’m more proactive about the commercial stations running ambulence chasing lawyer ads… prestream stadio promotions (Listen to our morning show, blah blah) tend to be placeholders for future paid ads, and are still a waste of the listerner’s time
