About Glenn-Stock

For those who haven’t disabled polls, the question about whether you are attending the 8/28 rally had a couple red herring answers.   So people won’t be misled by them…

– there are no tickets to buy.   It’s a free event.   So if your excuse was you can’t afford the tickets, think again
–  This weekend is not Labor Day Weekend – the Jerry Lewis telethon is a week from Monday, not this Saturday
– It’s not likely you’re going to see it on TV, except possibly C-SPAN – Fox News will not be covering it live.

I would consider purchasing selected CDs or DVDs depending on content. The fact is, however, Beck wouldn’t have a speaker who didn’t parrott the theme of the day. If you have turned even half an ear to beck in the last year you have the message. The radio formula is 10 min. of Beck commentary, 10 min. of Stu’s unfunny distractions (usually based on someone else’s work) and then Glen spend 10 min ‘teasing’ the same blah, blah, blah. Oh, yea, he pretends to take control of the show from the back up singers too!

Glenn mentioned something about Facebook carrying the video live. C-Span is expected to. KNRS out in Utah has something at 4 PM (which would be 6 PM Eastern – long after it is over)

Some reasons for concern and why I think you’re right. As the link on my poll question points to, Glenn originally said the purpose of this entire event was to announce his 100 year plan to Restore America. He hasn’t mentioned any 100 year plan since that I remember. With his self-diagnosed ADD, he probably forgot that 3 minutes after he said it.

I’ve been paying attention for the last week to Glenn’s sleeping patterns. I already don’t know when he sleeps during regular weeks. He mentioned last night he was still awake at 3 AM and then went to the mall to watch the sun rise (and showed up at 9 AM to do the radio show). The previous night, he made similar references to being awake past 1 AM and getting up to see the sun. Spending 3 or 4 days with no sleep WILL prepare you for the hallucinations of seeing God hovering over the crowd.

He mentioned today that he only started writing “the most important speech of his life” yesterday, and it’s a pointless exercise anyhow since he never follows the things he writes down once he gets on stage. It was clear from today’s show that the event tomorrow is a religious conversion experience where The Spirit will move the crowd. Glenn is also playing the anti-Mormon religious bigotry card – not realizing that telling people they can’t be part of the United States unless they believe in his God is exactly the same thing.

Thom Hartmann on Beck and 8/28 on Friday:

“it is about religion…He has this odd mixture of being a dry drunk, going through the 12 step program, converting to Mormonism, and now he has talked on the air about how God is talking to him, and there is a certain Messiah complex there, and you overlay that with the fact that he tells Fortune magazine that he is really just about making $18 million bucks a year – and all together in my mind it adds up to someone who frankly is not contributing in a positive way to the American Dialog.”
