A few days ago, Michelle had an item about the warning signs in Arizona

The story is correct, but the headline is wrong – and really missed a couple points. The signs were put up by the Bureau of Land Management, not Homeland Security. Even if you didn’t know that, the sign used the term “Illegal Immigration” is a big red flag.
The BLM is tasked with managing lands owned by the Federal Government but not owned by Native American tribes (the BIA controls the Indian lands). The BLM is part of the Department of the Interior. It isn’t part of Homeland Security (yet). The BIA and BLM work closely together out West.
If you want to take a really cynical view, from the perspecive of Indian tribes, the “illegal immigration” warned about on the signs could be the Anglos.
I’m not sure what this story is getting at but both DHS and BLM are mentioned in the article. It is the Representative that brings up DHS in his statement. Is this supposed to be an attack on MM?
I also don’t understand why the last statement is included. Are you telling me that the American Indians are still sore about losing their land? This is becoming one of the most ridiculous statements that can be made. Sore losers, I say.
Does the “Anglos” term indicate that the American Indians are only concerned about the white man from Europe who is here illegally on their land? They are not concerned about the Asians, Africans, Australians, whatever? What a crazy bunch of drivel.
I’m so sorry that they were conquered and mistreated. I am sad that we continue to give them stipends and subsidies that they waste. I hate that they get tax exempt status and that they are considered a nation within a nation (where else is this done?). I am sickened that they don’t live by the same laws as other citizens of this great land.
Give me a break. This is an obvious attempt to stir the pot by the author. By the way, I don’t want to take a really cynical view about the article. Your cynicism is enough for the masses.
It was a simple point – The signs were put up by BLM, not ICE or DHS.
Her headline says they were put up by DHS. The quoted text points out they were put up by BLM. Once you understand the difference, the question of motivation for putting up the sign becomes what is interesting.
No person commenting on her web site had pointed out the error and just piled on with positive comments affirming the mistaken premise – and I don’t have the ability to post a message there.
