SF Chronicle – Arrival (finally) of Internet radio Story.

Didn’t mention SRGuide, but definitely gets the theme right that the world of radio is changing fast

Radio Waves makes it sound like the best part of internet radio is Oldies stations from around the country. I think the best feature of internet radio is the dissemination of information through talk-radio. Do the SRG ratings show this?

Music is a relatively small part of the traffic here. That’s because most people arrive here from Google and the news/talk search terms are ranked highest for things like “Rush Limbaugh Streaming”. Also, once people find a music station they like, they probably don’t come back here every day to listen to it – they’ll just bookmark the station’s player.

Here is the breakdown of traffic by station format. Oldies is the #1 music format, very closely followed by Country. If you look at the site’s demographics at Quantcast, the visitor base here is highly skewed to people 35+ years old. Young people don’t listen to “radio”, or they don’t need a directory to find what they’re looking for, I guess.
