Very few people come to StreamingRadioGuide to find their local radio station shows (other than the people who work on the show demanding to know why their show isn’t listed). 95%+ of the people arriving here (other than from a bookmark) are coming from search engines looking for a specific program.
Tracking the names and hosts of local shows (outside of the major markets) is not a prudent use of resources. I’m planning to add in more stations that are not news/talk, but using generic placeholders like “Oldies Music” rather than “Bill Jones plays the Oldies”. Short of a change in station format, that won’t require much testing – if John Smith replaces Bill Jones (which happens in radio constantly), it won’t require listening for half and hour for Bill/John to say his name – and Bill/John may well not even be a real person, just a computer program doing voice tracking.
At some point, I may be release the ability of volunteers to be the person responsible for a genre – do you want to be the czar of Classic Music? The King of Sports Talk? Do you know every NPR program there is? Drop me a line if you feel inspired.
