The BBC “Business Daily” show is discussing this deal about Facebook selling part of itself to Goldman Sachs in preparation for a future public offering. In the course of that discussion, the subject came up that a lot of the money funding Facebook is coming from Russia.
Given the amount of personal data people have given to facebook, doesn’t that give you a warm fuzzy feeling? I’m sure the reason they are processing people’s photos through face recognition software is just so you can find your friends in your pictures.
Seems like social media has/can have a darker side. Lots of folks in line to exploit it to whatever lengths are possible.
I spoofed my personal data on my Facebook page, listing profession, for example, as “curmudgeon.” I was not crude or salacious, just having fun, emulating Jeff Dunham’s Walter, more or less. Not long thereafter Facebook, in high dudgeon, banished my lyin’ ass forevermore. Chert vozʹmi!
