I saw reports of Connecticut on the news this morning. It’s seldom that we here in North Western Mass can gloat about CT’s snowfall. Only about 4″ here.
My daughter assures me that these conditions only prove the horrors of global warming. I’m not kidding … but I am rather sad.
Those who ignore history are apparently due to repeat it- literally. And yes, it appears that God does have a Mark Twain style sense of humor when it comes to using the weather to remind us that every time we think we have the universe figured out… along comes irrefutable data that trashes the “the debate is over” proponents. Mini Ice Age anyone?
I was living in East Lyme, Connecticut, in the late 1970s. I can’t remember whether it was 1977 or 1978, but we had almost five feet of snow in one drop. The Connecticut Turnpike looked like one of those end-of-the-world movies. By the way, the original colonists in the 1640s also reported up to 10 feet of now during their winters. Just saying that this is not only nothing unusual… it’s actually usual. I hope you don’t have a Summer of 1816, though – man, that would suck. Especially if you have a garden.
