Mayors against Illegal Guns

Report by Aman Ali for Reuters (a news organization from England, the country from whom we revolted through using guns illegally)

Apparently, the law enforcement budget in New York City is swimming in cash enough to send investigators to Phoenix, Arizona to buy “illegal guns” at a private gun show as a publicity stunt. Obviously, police from New York have no jurisdiction to enforce Federal Gun laws in another state – heck, Arizona can’t even legally assist enforcing Federal immigration laws within its borders.

Mayor Bloomberg is described as co-chairman of Mayors against Illegal Guns. Even taking the facts in this “story” as true, there are no “illegal guns” involved – at most an improper transfer of a legal gun.

You will notice there is no mention of an arrest by BATF. Since the buyers misrepresented their identity and background to induce the sale, more than likely it was the investigators who broke Federal law outside of their legal jurisdiction.

Mr Bloomberg clearly is running to be your Shepherd.

Well … Chairman Mayor … Chairman Mayo … Chairman Mao ….

The BATF agents were purchasing guns across state lines…a clear violation of the law. Funny that wasn’t mentioned.

They weren’t BATF – they were city cops. That’s the point Bloomberg is trying to make – that NYC residents can go to other states and buy guns and smuggle them back into the city. I really doubt anybody from New York is going to go to Arizona to buy a gun. Carrying it on the plane would probably arouse some attention, and it’s a really really long car drive. That’s why it was such a despicable publicity stunt.

Being a resident of Arizona, and having attended (and done) private sales at these gun shows, I can confirm that almost everyone at the show would ask to see an AZ D.L. before completing the sale… not to record the info, but just to verify AZ residency.

Thus, it would seem the NYC police may have first obtained false I.D. and then attempted to buy firearms by misrepresenting themselves with fake identities.

I wonder, how many felonies did NYPD commit while trying to pull their ‘sting’?
