Yippee……..I wonder if they were testing yesterday because the sound kept going in and out. I finally had to switch stations because of the long periods of silence.
On another note…I just got this email from CNN that you might be interested in:
The power of CNN in your hands.
The new CNN app lets you get breaking news and the latest stories in US, world, health, entertainment, as well as local news and weather. Watch live breaking news video, record and submit your iReports directly from your iPhoneTM and so much more.
w00t! Only $1.99 for the app.
That’s brave trying to charge for an app to listen to your station. (not even sure it does that….)
plus they push extra advertisements and give the ads to you free!
And you can send them your iPhone video of breaking news events to do their work for them for free – is that great or what?
Desperation can take unusual forms…I don’t know of any mainstream station (Sirius not in the category) that charges for streaming the ads they are already being paid for…isn’t that double-dipping?
That’s the modern cable TV model. ESPN, the extreme example, has been doing it for years. Rake in the advertising dough on one end, charge $3/month per subscriber on the other end.
One rule of marketing – you can always lower the price of something, but it can be very hard to increase a price. If people pay you for your product, you have cash flow – if people don’t buy it, you can always make it cheaper later. The only people who will be offended are those who paid for something that is now free.
