Egypt – what now?

The party is over, now comes the reality.

The story that Mubarak has looted every penny in the Treasury has a single source, an Arabic language newspaper in Algeria, but people tend to accept as truth what they want to believe – when pushed for details and facts, the response was “so maybe we added one or two zeros”…

The military in Egypt is not stupid enough to grant the wish of the crowd to attack Israel and “kill all the Jews”. They can’t make food prices go down as the world foolishly uses its food to try to make fuel and people in China want more than rice. Republicans are unlikely to approve increasing US aid, and giving aid does not solve systemic problems.

Once the crowds turn on the business class and try to redistribute their wealth, then the real pain starts. Armies are designed to follow orders, not design utopian societies. Once the crowds realize they haven’t solved any problems, who will be the next boogyman to blame for their problems?  Once the sheep kill the shepherd, then they will learn about the wolves.

Now the “plundered loot” which may be in Swizterland is not $70 billion, but less than $1 billion – less than Al Gore’s global warming plundered loot.

First time I’ve seen people celebrate a military coup for freedom.
