Who would pay $3 million cash for a 1kw AM station?

While doing my routine maintenance, I stumbled on the sale of KRTX-AM (in 2008), a station located in Rosenberg, Texas – a town SW of Houston – it mostly covers the city of Houston, but not very thoroughly… there is a Construction Permit to increase the power to 5kw and move the station to the west of Houston, nominally increasing the footprint.

The buyer was Aleluyah Ministries, which owns 3 other stations in Texas (1 AM and 2 FM).   They are a non-profit corporation run by Roberto and Ruben Villarreau, who also operate the Royal Christians School, La Iglesia Del Pueblo of Pasadena (“The People’s Church of Pasadena”) and Aleluya Radio.

A few years ago I learned that there is quite a change afoot in Mexico – that evangelical Christianity is rapidly pushing aside Roman Catholic churches.

The tuition for the school is $2,250 per year…   The information about the son indicates that he was trained as a Baptist minister….   Looking on Google Maps Street View, the church has a VERY large parking lot and a lot of vacant land to expand onto.

A glimpse into the future of Estados Unitos.
