The U.K. and oil money… this totally off the wall story from Ghana
http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=169849
talks about the connections between British interest, Saudi Arabia and large bribes….
Makes the explanation of the Lockerbee bomber release a bit more clear. Could Saudi money be all that is preventing the British banking system from collapse?

I’ve heard some reports on BBC World Service in the past few weeks re this scandal. It’s very complicated. I know a lot of conservatives scorn BBC but I think they still set the standard for radio news when they set their mind to it. ALSO: I listened to John Batchelor last night but must have missed the historians you referred to in another post. He got very hot under the collar re economic news of the week. And Jerry Doyle is doing some brilliant commentary on the economy, I think. (In combination with his usual high-quality guests.) He mentioned the CIT situation today, among many other economic stories. I learn more from Doyle’s show than any other major host on the air. (Did anybody catch the guy who wrote the new book, National Suicide, on Doyle’s show a few weeks ago? His name was Gross and he was superb.) Whenever he has Gerald Cilenti or Peter Schiff on as guests it’s always rip-roaring great radio. Personally, I think Doyle has a Peabody Award in his future. I’m not sayin’ this year or next but somewhere down the road.
The historians were on Saturday night. John is doing shows now on Saturday and Sunday on different stations at different times.
Oh, okay. Thanks, Fred. By the way,, there is a story on Page One of the Philadelphia Inquirer this am re the design for the new Barnes Foundation museum to go on the Parkway in Center City Philly. (Re your recent post about John Batchelor doing a segment on the “theft” of the art collection from its current location in the ‘burbs to bring it into the city.)
