Newt is in the news now as he is pondering running for President in 2012. I like Newt. I was one of those people who watched him on CSPAN at 1 AM talking to an empty room. I’m odd, but you know that.
The left likes to trot out “Yeah, but he was having an affair and divorcing his wife while she was in the hospital dying of cancer in 1981 – now that’s Republican Family Values!”… (Mrs Gingrich – Jackie Battley is still very much alive). It was an ill advised marriage – Newt was 19 and she had been his high school geometry teacher (7 years older than him). They had two children together. In 1981, she would have been about 45 years old – typical age to get a hysterectomy or maybe deal with endometriosis.
Well, Newt is now on wife #3 – married in 2000. Despite Newt being divorced twice, his new bride is Catholic. In 2009, Newt announced he has converted to Catholicism. He likes the feeling of being part of a religion with a 2000 year history.
Okay, fine. Good luck on that 2012 thing.
Newt shut down the govt. – That’s all the people remember about him.
Sarah P. is more electable then Newt, and she dosn’t have a chance either.
I think Newt has some good ideas. The thing I don’t like about him is he wants it too badly. Kinda like Ross Perot without the ears and the charts.
