How Socialism “Works”

  1. Politician declares that it is a right for everyone to have as much “X” as they feel they need, and nobody has to pay for it
  2. People that were making “X” stop making “X”
  3. Government takes over making “X” because they are smarter and have been intentions
  4. Supply of “X” is less than infinite demand for “X”
  5. Shortage of “X” appears
  6. Government launches a 5 year plan to create more “X”
  7. Shortage of “X” increases
  8. Rationing of “X” is imposed to increase fairness of distribution
  9. Black Market in “X” develops to circumvent Rationing
  10. Government cracks down on the Black Market in “X”
  11. Government becomes the Black Market
  12. Government employees profit from controlling the Black Market
  13. Punish the innocent – those still trying to avoid step 14
  14. Supply of “X” completely collapses
  15. Someone invents “Y” that is an unregulated substitute for “X”
  16. Government outlaws production of  “Y”
  17. go to Step #6
