I was appalled at the arguments the “experts” used in blocking Rush’s attempt to become a part owner. Not one of them could cite a real example of a racist remark he had said during 20 years of daily broadcasting, but they all made the comment “Well, the statement about slavery may not be true but he’s said other stuff that a lot of people don’t like.” Excuse me, but so have Marge Schott (and hers were unabashedly racist in nature), George Steinbrenner and the owners of other sports franchises, coaches, and players. Should they be equally disqualified from their respective positions based on their personal, political or ideological points of view? I guess in the ObamaNation that is america today, free speech is only free when it meets the criteria set by the politically correct.
Not to mention first-ballot Hall of Famer George Preston Marshall, who as owner of the Redskins singlehandedly drove every single black player out of the NFL for about 12 years, and kept his team all-white for nearly 30, so that he could keep a stranglehold on the Southern U.S. fan base. I’m still waiting to see him get thrown out of the Hall, and probably will have to wait for a while.
Remember, the UFL is also an option if Limbaugh wants to get back at the NFL for this sort of thing. It’s not quite the majors, but it’s darn close. He could afford to own a UFL team outright.
