The AU is going to meet with represenatives of the Qadaffi government and the rebels to see if there is a way to stop this Libya thing.
The AU had refused to be the proxy to give the US and European powers the legal cover to give them jurisdiction to start bombing Libya. The following day, the Arab league gave that consent only to have U.N. broaden the mandate from “No fly zone” to “bomb the hell out of everything”.
The African Union has 53 member states including Libya, Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria. The only African country not part of the AU is Morrocco.
