“Hi, I’m here to tear down your radio station – can I start now?”
Actually, it wasn’t a joke :)
One of the interesting things is that in small town America, it is tempting to build radio towers in the flood plain of rivers. An AM radio antenna needs a lot of room, and land along a river isn’t good for building houses. Of course, the problem with this is that when the town has a flood, the radio station goes off the air because its studio and/or tower is under water – just at the time you need it the most to communicate emergency information
Can’t help but feel a twinge of sadness, even in the march of progress and time.
