David Stein is back!
In February, I wrote a blurb about what an odd show David Stein has for being on a sporting network.
He’s back! He showed up this week on WTKK-FM in Boston, replacing Phil Hendrie. He’s being syndicated by an outfit named Black Card Radio whose other “properties” include Speed Freaks and Charlie Tuna’s minute.
By nature, overnight syndicated shows tend to be odd and this show is no exception. David’s show is called “Celebration of Life”, which is a term most often heard at funerals. From the bit of the show I heard tonight, he apparently just got married.
The theme of tonight’s show was “not living your life to be part of the gang”, and he did a careful analysis of the lyrics to the theme song from the TV show “Cheers”. He made it clear that he was doing that to introduce himself to the new audience in Boston. He promised to a similar theme show for other new affiliates. (there are two other affiliates so far on their list – WRWR-AM which is at the Warner Robbins Air Base, and recently switched from news/talk to religious talk/music, and a station in Washington State)
So if you are a program director and hurry up really fast, they’re still offering market exclusive syndication deals!
