Look out MIchigan – the AP is reporting that the leader of a mosque in the Dearborn area has died in a shootout with the FBI.
The Dearborn area has something approaching a million immigrants from the Middle East, many of whom follow Islam. They are a powerful force in politics in Michigan, all the more as the economy falls apart there and people leave the state
Reading more details, this is a group that recruits in prisons among the African American convicts – they look to H Rap Brown as their leader. The local Arab American leaders were briefed about the raid ahead of time and are OK with it – they probably don’t view his group as really part of Islam. CAIR, on the other hand is making noise about there being a problem.
