J.D. Hayworth says “I’m in”…. probably encouraged by events in Massachusetts, radio show host J.D. Hayworth has resigned his radio job at KFYI on Friday and will be running against John McCain to try to knock him out of the U.S. Senate.
Clear Channel had caved to John McCain’s threat to file an FEC complaint against KFYI for providing “free advertising” and the lawyers told him he could not talk about McCain or the Senate race, even on other people’s radio shows.. (The Supreme Court law decision this week not withstanding)
The day after the Massachusetts election, Scott Brown’s voice was used to “robocall” in Arizona asking for support for McCain. Glenn Beck was aware of this when he made the remarks about not trusting Brown (I remember him taking the phone call about this). Glenn had made the remark about wondering when Brown had the time to record that announcement – his clear implication was that Brown had recorded his help for McCain before the election – probably in exchange for financial support from the party.
Still feeling good about Scott Brown?
My answer is, save the robocall thingie… sort of. Here we are again voting for the candidate that will hurt us the least. Having said that dare I also say, at least he’s no Dede Scozzafava. If he stands by his word to listen to the people… well, let’s just hope.
John McCain has worn his welcome and many here in Arizona are pretty tired of it. Some are still defending him namely those on a certain morning show on KFYI. My greatest fear is that someone like Scott Brown (not Scott Brown) can lie their way easily into office given the current attitude of the country without enough scrutiny because we are so hungry for, and I really hate to type this “change”
Glen Beck also said of Brown ” we are going to be watching you like a hawk”. I hate that he is a McCain buddy and I’m sorely disappointed in Sarah Palin readily backed McCain…
We are, however, paying close attention. And that is the important thing. There are many of us out there that have learned an awful lot in the past year. I’m one of them.
I will be supporting JD and I think there’s a whole lot of other JD supporters as well. Enough I hope.
One more thing… Such agression on the part of McCain here… where was that when he ran for President? Perhaps he feels like the bigger fish in a smaller pond here in AZ

Thank you for taking the time to write out that thoughtful response. The Republican party is coming to a crucial point in history – if it just thinks last Tuesday was a vindication of Republicanism and they can go back to business as usual and do things like give us another Bush brother to run for President, they risk becoming the Whig party, or worse. We live in interesting and dangerous times.
You’re welcome, it’s my pleasure. And thank you for the new tid bit to learn. Whig Party. I will read about that to better understand your point.
Tuesday was HUGE and yet some have their head in the sand for sure and it will remain buried there next to their candidates’ right up to the day they are defeated in the next election.
I am new to politics (just 7 years) but I feel I have had the good fortune to learn from the best. First my now boyfriend (of 7 years) then Rush, Levin and others like Thomas Sowell, Herman Cain, Bill Wattenburg and many others. it’s a new learning experience and even though I wish I had been paying attention many years earlier, I’m not so sure it would have made the same impact on me. I think it was this election, the way it was won, and what has consequently transpired.
This is not business as usual and those who continue to believe that do so at their own peril. I’m with you, I think this year is going to be the most interesting in the history of the Republican Party. I and many others are going to be pretty PO’d if they try to stick us with someone like Newt. Mr Green technology.
eh, you mentioned good ol’ Bill Wattenburg…i have listened to him for probably 25-30 years now and i’m afraid he’s slipping a little, might be his age….he doesn’t seem to have the fire that he used to and libs will occasionally call and challenge his ideas and give him some trouble, whereas up until 2005 or so he would just make them look silly, slice and dice them 5 ways to Sunday…and KGO is almost not worth listening to anymore as Gene Burns has moved so far to the left that he’s really more of a liberal now than a libertarian, the 1-4 PM weekday slot now has the dullard Gil Gross since that TV news guy passed on…Lee Rodgers moved to KSFO mornings, and the old 1-4 PM guy retired…there’s nobody left except Bill W….very sad…
Art, no doubt this will be some interesting primes coming up. Anybody that thought Brown’s election meant this was something for the Republican Rhino Party brand, has another thing coming.
People are going to push the ‘Big Red Button’ this fall. But just try to put up a Bush for president in 2012. That tune won’t play with the American public.
