Savage on Sports! Today’s Savage Nation was surprisingly about the good doctor himself. He’ll be switching to a sports station next week, which makes me wonder…
He is often belittling sports fans in general and the empty-headed sport of baseball in specific. He’ll have to drop that shtick or face alienating the listeners.

San Fransicko is only one market. I don’t see why sports fans would react any more negatively to Savage telling them they’re idiots than his Conservative listeners do for being called morons over and over.
I heard him talking about how educated liberals love to listen to his show since they can bounce their ideas off a “real Conservaive”, and then went on to give advice to President Obama how to be successful. I just don’t get why people don’t get that Savage is just saying what he thinks people want to hear – he has even said that directly. It’s like people hear the volume, and ignore the words.
I have a secondary theory that by Feb 1st, the station may not be a sports station.
He is such a known commodity in his hometown, it will be easier for his audience to go there, even if it is a sports station, than in another market. He has bounced around there anyway over the years. Heck, many were listening to a Sacramento station while he was dropped locally……
i heard some of what he said yesterday on his moving to the sports station and he sounded disingenuous…maybe his ratings are slipping(?) or its competition with Levin, but he seemed kind of desperate to me, like he was going to reinvent himself or something…ive been a fan of his show since he started i think weekends on KGO in mid 1990’s but lately all of these weirdo “guests” he has on that seem to be buying time have turned me off to the show…and that sycophant Jeffrey Kuhner(?), eh creepy…i get the feeling Savage keeps burning his bridges with his home stations, like KSFO…i dont know what went on but im just guessing thats what happened…he used to speak well of Bill Wattenburg but i never hear that anymore either…everybody is a “wallbanger” or a “hemmrhoid” or “the golfer” and then he complains when nobody comes to his defense…i heard Laura Ingraham try to defend him once and then a few weeks later he was ripping her….too bad, sometimes his show is one of the best, but that is very rare lately…he did have the guts to stand up to illegal immigration when other “conservatives” like Gene Burns folded up like up like a cheap tent…
Desperate reinvention. Good description. I started listening to him just after 9-11, and his show at that time was really good. It seems like his battles with the city council and CAIR really took a lot of the wind out of his sails, and the issue with the Ban in Britain has all but scuttled him.
