Trouble in Texas… man blows up his hou…

Trouble in Texas… man blows up his house, flies his plane into the building housing the IRS, leaves a suicide note saying he’s coming after the IRS, and has a screed on his web site – and authorities are investigating whether it was accidental.

Question of tomorrow: Do you have a right to own an airplane?

His screed calling people to violence reads more like something Barack Obama would write rather than quotes from Glenn Beck. Whew…. Apparently he hated the way rich people and the Catholic church manipulated the tax code to keep the hard working little people oppressed….

Clearly the maniac was anti-capitalist, yet the fringe left has been in full force today to attach him to the tea party movement (the model of what a peaceful revolution should be.) His 6 page rant can be found on The Smoking Gun site (but for how long?)

From what I just heard on Savage, it sounds like he also suffered from Bush Derangement Syndrome. He is a refugee from California…

I read his thing. I was also affected by section 1706 of TEFRA. After being told by Ronald Reagan to be bold and start a business, just about the time I had built up enough equity in the company to actually do something, they tightened the rules a lot. I had started a business to help computer programmers find jobs by dialing in to a multiuser BBS. I culled listings from major papers and built a search engine to match people’s skills to the listings. This was 10 years before the Internet was available to the public but was the beginning of what evolved into FindAnISP.com

It’s spooky that I just posted the news item about the IRS going after independent contractors – that’s exactly his beef (except from his own admissions he was a tax cheat). Independent contracting in software was being abused prior to Section 1706.

For those who have followed my writing, one of my biggest concerns about this recession is it is affecting jobs that traditionally have been over-represented by men (construction, truck driving, car manufacturing) while job growth (or at least stability) has been the case where women are over-represented (health care, teaching, service jobs). It’s very destabilizing for a society to have large numbers of well educated men sitting around with nothing to do. Last time, we wound up solving the problem of large numbers of underemplyed frustrated men with a big war in Europe that needed every able bodied man to go fight for 4 years in a noble cause.
