Citadel and talent contracts – I know this is getting repetitive, but as Rush says….. One of the main objectives of Citadel going through bankruptcy is it allows them to break existing contracts and force onair talent (or syndication) to “take it or leave it” – either sign a new contract with the Debtor in Possession according to terms aggreeable to the bankruptcy judge or they’re done.

Grandy & Andy in WMAL hit the news yesterday – there are several flavors of the story floating around, but that’s essentially their situation. The rumor yesterday was that they have not come to terms. Citadel says they will continue to be on the air (at least today), but unless they cave to whatever it is Citadel is demanding, look for them to be history soon. One theory floating around is that they might add Don Imus as a replacement (Imus is syndicated by Citadel)

It all seems logical to me – the problem with all of this is that the Citadel stations may be cutting costs in their major market stations, but they aren’t going to have any listeners left to generate income after they exit bankruptcy….
