Disney wants ABC back – not the stations, but the trademarks (and WABC and KGO and WLS). Disney still owns ABC TV and WABC-TV, KGO-TV, and WLS-TV. Citadel wants to use bankruptcy to get out of its contract with Disney and Disney is defending its property rights. ABC radio has already been renamed Citadel Media which probably helps Disney. Apparently, while Citadel owns the ABC Radio News Network, they still rely on ABC/Disney to produce the news.
This is not the current plan, but I’m starting to wonder if Aurelius entered this bankruptcy to force Citadel to divest the ABC stations back to Disney and undo the ill fated marriage (but the lenders will want at least some of their money back)
