The Rand Paul “board certified” controversy. Did you know that only about 20% of active doctors support the AMA?
If you listened to John Batchelor’s anti Paul and anti Palin diatribe, you didn’t hear that. Mr Paul was upset that the AMA board for opthamologists exempts older doctors from proving they understand the current techniques and devices used in eye surgery – so he founded a non-AMA board that requires doctors to recertify every 10 years.
This is being spun as Mr Paul misstating his board certification -since he claims the AMA doesn’t have an exclusive right to grant the designation.
Did I mention only 20% of doctors belong to the AMA and that number is rapidly shrinking, in part because of the AMA’s behavior on Obamacare – endorsing the plan without asking its members for their opinions?
