Jason Mattera, the 26 year old author of the book “Obama’s Zombies”, will be hosting the local time slot on WABC this Sunday from 4-6 PM.
If you’re wondering where the next generation of Rush Limbaugh talk show hosts will come from, this young man should be on your short list. He’s very quick on his feet and not afraid to embarrass Barney Frank and Al Franken.
Audition for Bob Brinker’s replacement, perhaps? I hope he does well.
That spot is definitely a “tryout” time during non-sports season. I think that horrible “Both Sides Now” was on in that time last week. It’s an opportunity to get comfortable with the technology of how big-time radio shows are done, and to cut the 21st century equivalent of a “demo tape”. It might even be “brokered” time or something similar, not necessarily that WABC or Citadel Media has any interest in producing the show.
Make Simone is currently holding down the daytime 10 AM to Noon period now that Scarabarough and what’s her name are gone. He’s 100x more interesting than Curtis Sliwa, but I’m not sure this he wants to keep doing it long term.
