I don’t know if the relief well is doing something or they revised the containtment cap, but the flow of oil is close to stopped… You can now actually see the LMRP cap, with only occasional spurts of small amounts of oil…

On second thought, I strongly suspect this is related to the new guy put in charge of the spill. He’s a former Amoco manager who lives in the area. Amazingly, he said he had not been told the events that happened or things that had been tried to stop the leak. I’m thinking that he probably asked a few basic questions and kicked the ass of the Coast Guard Generals and people who know nothing about the oil business. It’s probably leaking maybe 10 gallons a minute now or about 300 barrels a day… it’s a huge difference.
