I just had a pleasant surprise listening to a new podast on Stitcher that I subscribed to last week.
It’s called Ricochet. The subject of this week’s show was a discussion about the future of the newspaper business by people in the newspaper business.
The theme of the show was generally – the reason that newspapers are failing is they are stuck in the model that their job is to tell people what they think they should know, not what people want to find out about – it’s giving readers their homework. They compare why CNN is failing compared to Fox News, why the Wall Street Journal is able to get people to pay for its online content and is growing while the NY Times is stumbling and shrinking.
The orientation of the contributions is smart center-right thoughtful people – conspiracy theorists need not apply. Names I recognize on the web site are Mark Steyn, Pat Sajak, and Victor Davis Hanson. This is a group to keep your eye on.
thanks for the mention of Ricochet and J Batchelor, I have been glued to the laptop for two days listening to the podcasts!!
