Call it a sign of the times or the future.
KPIG (The Pig) was the creation of the son of a California billionaire who made his fortune in Cable TV. His son wanted to “be in radio” so he could have free concerts and hang out with show business people and have a good time. The company wasn’t preoccupied with annoying things like selling advertising, so it quickly was unable to pay its bankers.
Daddy now has the company back and the private equity people have split. Daddy has decided to lease out KPIG-AM to AIM broadcasting, a company that produces ethic programming – in this case the Mandarin Chinese community in San Francisco.
One possible view of the future is that when the Chinese want their money back for U.S. Treasuries, perhaps Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae could trade debt and transfer control of a few million homes to the government of China, and a little “immigration reform” and a whole lot of problems are solved.
You know, as crazy as it sounds, it’s hard to discount an idea like this anymore. If you’d told me 20 months ago where we’d be today, I might have called you a liar…
Part B of the theory is that the seniors in this country will go to China to fill up all the luxury condominiums being built that people in China can’t afford. Providing living assistance and medical care in China would save Medicare a lot of money.
The sty will stink evermore, as long as the pigs wield the levers of power.
“No question now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.”
– George Orwell, Animal Farm, Ch. 10
